
Dylan Grant, a 24-year-old professional bull rider from Pavillion, Wyoming, tragically passed away on April 3, 2025, following injuries sustained during the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event in Texas. During the competition’s second round, Grant was thrown from his bull and subsequently stepped on. Emergency personnel provided immediate medical attention on-site before airlifting him to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Grant’s father, Wade, described his son as “double tough,” highlighting his resilience and dedication to the sport. In an interview following the tragic event, Wade expressed pride in Dylan’s accomplishments and the determination he exhibited throughout his career.
Dylan was a distinguished athlete in the rodeo community. He obtained his Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) permit in 2018 and became a full member in 2024. Throughout his career, he competed in numerous PRORODEO and Xtreme Bulls events, earning a total of $15,710. While attending the University of Wyoming, Grant was an integral member of the rodeo team and graduated in 2023 with a degree in Physical Education. In 2021, he secured the bull riding title at the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo.
The PRCA extended its condolences, stating, “The PRCA would like to send its thoughts and prayers to bull rider Dylan Grant’s family, friends, and the entire rodeo/bull riding community.” The University of Wyoming Rodeo Team also expressed their sorrow, noting, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Dylan’s father, Wade, and Dylan’s mother, Tiffany, during this unthinkable time.”
